Powder King Mountain Resort and the ski and snowboard season have officially opened.
Office Manager Sarah Blake says resort staff had to wait until early this morning to make the announcement. While the resort has been ready for nearly a month, she says it needed the weather to cooperate.
“Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t with us for a week there when we had some warmer temperatures but, as it always does, this snow fell and we are ready to go.”
If you can’t make it to a ski hill this weekend, Blake says the slopes should be great all season long.
“Our climatologist has said that it’s going to be a huge snow in December and January so we’re expecting a really good year.”
Blake adds there are only six “green” runs open today because of early season conditions.
