WestJet Encore flight lands safely after landing gear issue

UPDATE – the information in this post has been updated.

The WestJet Encore flight that was redirected to Prince George landed safely around 11:45.

The Prince George Airport’s Emergency Operations Centre was activated due to the aircraft reporting issues with its landing gear.

The flight left Vancouver at 8:16 this morning and was on its way to Terrace with a scheduled arrival for 9:55 but was diverted to Prince George.

Highway 16 was briefly closed and has re-opened to all traffic.

The Airport Authority Emergency Services and RCMP Victim Services are on site but there do not appear to be any serious injuries.

Prince George Fire Department, BC Ambulance and Pineview Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the call.
