The YMCA of Northern BC is celebrating the power of community during its “Peace Week.”
YMCA’s across the world are promoting fairness, inclusion, and respect through some simple, selfless acts like buying coffee for a stranger or shoveling a neighbours driveway.
Local Manager Stephanie Mikalishen says doing little things can strengthen your community.
“We’re really fortunate that we live in a place where when we’re trying to make Prince George a more peaceful place, we talk about building community and acting for peace so really coming together as a community to practise yoga and to ‘peace it forward’ with random acts of kindness.”
The week kicked off with National Child Day events Saturday in both Prince George and Vanderhoof.
The big finale will be free yoga next November 26th in both communities.
