Prince George Fire Rescue was call to a reported structure fire at 179 McEachern Pl. at about 8:30 this morning.
Fifteen fire fighters from three halls arrived to find smoke coming from at two story townhouse with one person trapped on the balcony. He was asleep when the fire started and was awaken by the smell of smoke. The smoke was too heavy for him to make it downstairs so he climbed out the bathroom window onto the balcony where he was rescued by fire fighters. He was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
No one else was in the home when the fire started.
Fire crews were able to knock down the fire quickly however damage to the home was extensive. No damage estimate is available yet and the cause is still unknown.
