This October colder, wetter than most

Prince George was a little cooler and a little wetter this October than year’s past.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Ross MacDonald says the month’s average temperature was 3.1 degrees. Despite the recent warmer-than-typical weather, that average is still colder than normal.

“We were a little bit cool to start, and then the last third we’ve been a little bit above normal so take the average of all 31 days and we’re just sitting at about a degree or so below average for the month of October.”

Temperatures average 4.5 degrees in October.

That recent warm spell should continue until Sunday. Daytime highs are hovering around 11 degrees.

MacDonald adds that Prince George had more precipitation this month than in years past as well. He recorded about 72 mm of precipitation in the month, more than the 62 mm average.
