Two Rivers Art Gallery Curator given award by BC Museums Association

The BC Museums Association has granted local curator George Harris a ‘Distinguished Service Award’.

The curator at Prince George’s Two Rivers Art Gallery has been at the facility for over 15 years and says one of the most memorable pieces of work revolved around a major issue facing this region.

“For me, one of my favourite exhibitions that I recall was a show that we did years ago with Peter van Tiesenhausen called “Requiem” where we sort of explored the impact of the pine beetle in 2005.”

Harris said he is “terribly flattered” and honoured to receive the award.

“My work is really about collaborating with people all the time, and as I receive this award I’m very mindful of the fact that other people certainly were implicated and very involved in what led up to me getting this award.”

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes his many years of dedication to the development of artists and art in Northern BC.
