Mayor calls second Talktober a success for both city staff and residents

Talktober is now over. The final session took place last night at CNC and City of Prince George now has lots of direct feedback from residents to consider.

“It was exactly as I’d hoped that It would be. We had staff here that were prepared to provide answer to people that came in. We had good turnouts, good questions. For me, at the end of the day, it was all about us providing this kind of service to the community so they could come out and take advantage of it.”

He says that, while some concerns came up in multiple sessions, others were specific to certain neighbourhoods in the city.

“We had comments about our water consumption rates and concern about that and lighting is a concern in some areas like Blackburn and the Hart. I don’t think there were any that really surprised me.”

Another frequent comment? People love living in Prince George and are generally pretty happy with the job city staff are doing.

One topic came up at every Talktober session.

“There’s some park issues that we’ve heard as well. People are really interested in green space, trails and parks so that’s going to be a priority come budget time. I hope some good recommendations come out of the Park Strategy review.”

The City currently has a draft strategy and is asking for feedback from residents.

If you didn’t make it to Talktober but would still like to take a look at the draft and let the city know what you think, the review period is open until November 16.

You can view the draft strategy on the City’s website.
