The $2.78 million dollar facelift to Willow Cale Road begins on Wednesday.
It was reduced to one lane back in February due to serious erosion and a forming sinkhole.
City of Prince George Engineering Supervisor, Heather Andreychuk says the road has taken a beating.
“The culvert is old and deteriorated, the road is also experiencing erosion so we are building a new girder bridge so the traffic that typically uses it will be diverted to Highway 97.”
Passenger vehicles may detour on Highway 97 South to Damms Road while transport traffic will use Willow Cale Forest Service Road to access the south end of the city.
A culvert will also be replaced and the project should be complete by December.
