Lowe’s marks grand opening in Prince George with $10,000 donation to College of New Caledonia

To mark its grand opening in Prince George, Lowe’s made a $10,000 donation to the College of New Caledonia’s Carpentry Program.

“The money’s going to be spent on purchasing a 16’ enclosed trailer for our carpentry students to take their tools and materials onto job sites for experiential learning,” says CNC President Henry Reiser. “It’s a wonderful opportunity. It’s very typical here in Prince George of industry to come forward and support us. It’s just absolutely wonderful.”

Reiser says the new store will give students another affordable option for purchasing tools and supplies.

Instead of a ribbon, a board was cut Mayor Lyn Hall attended to mark the occasion.

“A company like Lowe’s coming to town, I think it shows confidence in our community. It shows that they want to be here and we’re really happy about that. Not to mention the amount of jobs that are going to be provided.”

Mayor Lyn Hall says the store’s opening strengthens the city’s message – Prince George is open for business.

“When you take a look at what’s going on in Prince George now with some major development, Lowe’s coming to town and all of the other businesses in the community it shows that there’s confidence here and there’s an opportunity for people to come here and work and for companies to come here and set up shop.”

The new store will be celebrating its opening through the end of the week with sales and prizes for customers.
