Marilyn Marquis-Forster comes to the Prince George School District from the Swan Valley School Division in Manitoba and says she’s ready to learn the ropes in her new role.

“It’s always, regardless of where you’re serving, important to know what the goals are and to really come to know your leaders and to support them to do their work. Whether you’ve got 5 people on the leadership team or 10 – that job remains the same.”

She already has some goals laid out.

“The first goal is that I really listen and learn and really get to know the District and the people doing the work in the district. I do have a plan to get into every school as a visit between now and December break.”

Continuing to improve student literacy and numeracy are also among Marquis-Forster’s goals for her time in the District.

“Aboriginal education is, of course, a big priority with Prince George. It was a big priority with the Swan Valley School Division and I look forward to taking perspectives from there and having that perspective as I learn what’s happening here.”

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
