Burning bans to be lifted in Prince George fire centre

Cool and wet weather has resulted in the lifting of open burning bans throughout the Prince George fire centre.

Category two grass and slash burns will be allowed as of noon Wednesday. Category two fires are burn piles smaller than two metres high and three metres wide, or grass over an area smaller than 2,000 square metres.

Fireworks, tiki torches, burning barrels and sky lanterns have the green light once again as well.

The Wildfire Branch still urges caution when carrying out an open burn. Larger category three fires will still require registration by calling 1.888.797.1717
