The Prince George Humane Society is holding its 2nd annual ‘Tails & Trails’ event tomorrow.
“Tails and Trails is our annual event,” says executive director Angela McLaren. “It’s a walk that we have for the animals and we hold it every year at Moore’s Meadow. We usually do a 2.5 km around Moore’s menu and after the event we have vendors, kids activities and lots of games for the dogs.”
McLaren is hoping this year’s Tails and Trails event will be as successful as last year’s
“We actually didn’t expect the amount of people who turned up. We had a goal of $8,000 and we [got more than that.] So it was a huge successful event for us based on our first year. We’re hoping to reach that goal again this year and possibly exceed it.”
Everyone is invited – even if you don’t have a furry friend to walk with.
The fundraising event is key for the organization.
“We’re 100% donor funded organization and all of us that work here are volunteer, which means that all of the money that comes into the rescue actually gets used toward the animals. But this event in particular, all of the money raised goes towards medical expenses.”
If you haven’t signed up yet, registration for the event begins at 9 and the walk will start at 10. The $20 dollar registration fee includes snacks and a hot dog lunch.
Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fundraisers.
