BC Transit taking public input for Highway 16 bus network

BC Transit is planning several public input sessions to gather opinions on the forthcoming bus service for Highway 16 West.

Spokesperson Jonathan Dyck says they are putting the final touches on the network set to roll out at the end of the year.

The system will be centred around four routes; Terrace to Prince Rupert, Terrace to the Hazeltons, Burns Lake to Smithers, Burns Lake to Prince George.

“We are taking the plans that have been developed and asking the public about what their thoughts are on the plan, about frequency and what days work best for them for travel and other aspects.”

On Saturday BC Transit will have a booth set up at the Nechako Valley Fall Fair in Vanderhoof from 9am-1pm and the BCNE in Prince George from 4pm-8pm.

Further dates throughout the Bulkley Valley are also planned.

“People can also complete the online survey if that is their prefered approach and that survey is available on bctransit.com/highway16, so there are a number of ways for people to engage in this process.”

Dyck says the public input sessions will wrap up this fall, with the bus network launching in phases at the end of the year.
