From Stage to Page: A new partnership for book and theatre lovers

Theatre North West and the Prince George Public Library are teaming up to bring theatre lovers a chance to dive deep into this season’s theatrical offerings.

“The partnership is called Books Backstage,” says Jack Grinhaus, Artistic Director of Theatre North West. “It’s a relationship between TNW and the Prince George Public Library. The library has created a list that has fiction, non-fiction, DVDs, CDs that relate to themes, motifs and storyline material within the play.”

Library patrons can pick up the materials before seeing a show to get a bit of background in or head down to the library afterwards to deepen their understanding of a particular stageshow.

Grinhaus says the library materials will change with the theatre’s offerings.

“When people leave the show, sometimes they want to think about the themes and the story a little bit more. Now they have the opportunity to go to the library and engage with some of the work there. In some cases it’s going to be very easy. For example, when we do Alice in Wonderland, a lot of the stuff at the library will be directly related. With some of the other plays, it will be more thematic.”

Theatre North West’s season opens on September 15 with Fly Me To the Moon.
