UNBC alumni running for leadership of BC Conservatives

A UNBC alumni wants to be the next leader of the BC Conservative Party.

Chloe Ellis announced her candidacy this week, and plans to travel the province in the run up to September’s party convention in Prince George.

She is running on what she calls an “accountability and affordability agenda”, and blasted the Liberal Government’s ethical track record and carbon tax.

She holds an MBA from UNBC, “it’s a phenomenal institution with a lot of really great instructors and I know that one of my mentors James Moore is also now our chancellor, so I’m so proud of our entire institution”

She says she firmly believes there is room for three strong parties in BC politics

“There definitely is, but it’s up to me as the future leader, and it’s up to the BC Conservatives to earn the right to your vote. Votes don’t come easy, they don’t walk in off the street, we have to earn it.”

The party’s previous leader Dan Brooks, is the only other person running for the position so far.

The BC Conservative convention takes place Sept 17th in Prince George.
