Sun shines on Downtown Prince George Summerfest

The sun was out and the fun was definitely out at today’s Summerfest in downtown Prince George.

Mayor Lyn Hall says the event is one of many throughout the year that showcases the spirit of the city.

“First of all I want to thank all of the sponsors for this and I think what this does is creates a stronger sense of community. It gives people a chance to come out, enjoy the day and bring their families. There’s a real plaza style atmosphere – there’s entertainment, there’s food.”

The CanFor Kidz Zone featured, Huble Homestead Historic Site, the Exploration Place and the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum. The Prince George Air Cadet Squadron 396 Gliders will also be on site, along with Comedy Magician Clinton W. Gray. There were also two stages featuring live music and other performances.

And then there was the food.

“I always scout out the guy that sells the mini-donuts,” says Hall. “Whether I haven’t had breakfast, lunch of dinner, it’s mini donuts first and foremost.”

Nearly two dozen restaurants took part in this year’s Taste Pavilion, including Shiraz, SPICY Greens, White Goose Bistro, Shogun Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse, Bites of Bliss, Frozen Paddle and many more. They were serving up bite-sized versions of their signature specialties.
