Prince George RCMP kept busy Monday night with property crime

The Prince George RCMP had a busy 12 hours overnight Monday.

Officers responded to 46 calls, which resulted in 17 people being held in cells overnight and 13 people appearing in court today.

In a media release, RCMP Cpl Craig Douglass shared some highlights from the night;

Break and Enter

At about 9:20pm on Monday, police were called to the 1900 block of 1st Ave where they found Trent Johner, 43 or Prince George, inside a business. He was arrested and will appear in court later today facing one charge of Break & Enter and one charge of Possession of Break-in Instruments.

Shoplifting

A little over an hour later, at 10:25pm, police were called to the Superstore on Ferry Avenue for a report of three shoplifters. The three adult women were found with more than $450 in merchandise believed to have been taken from the store.

Joann Monk, 48, Gina Monk, 36, and Casey Monk, 29, have been held in custody until court later today. All three have been charged with Theft Under $5000.

Casey has extra charges of Possession of Stolen Property (2 counts) and Breach of Undertaking. Gina has an additional charge of Obstruction, as she provided a false name to officers. All three suspects are Prince George residents and related to one another.

Liquor Theft

At about 10:50pm, officers were called to a liquor store on Monterey Road. Two men had grabbed multiple bottle of liquor from the store and ran, one was located a short time after and four bottle were recovered. He remains in custody pending identification.

Auto Theft Suspect Arrested

At approximately 11:45 PM, officers carried out a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven with no headlights. Stephen James Sherman, a 24 year old passenger, was arrested in connection to the theft of a vehicle that occurred on June 7th in the Buckhorn area.

Sherman was found in possession of tools believed to be used in property crime and a small amount of methamphetamine. He was held overnight and will appear in court later today facing charges of Theft of Motor Vehicle, Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.

Four others were arrested for Breaching Conditions and two others were arrested on outstanding Warrants.
