National Motocross Manager, PG woman announces team Canada roster

The National Motocross Manager, and Prince George resident, Kourtney Lloyd just announced this year’s Canadian team.

Lloyd is the first female to ever manage the Canadian team or any team in the upcoming Motocross des Nations international tournament.

As the manager, Lloyd is responsible for almost all the behind the scenes work, like picking the team and the mechanics, and organizing all shipping, travelling, and accommodations.

“For a girl to get a role like this is pretty important and I think it’s pretty special. I think it shows the girls that are up-and-coming in any sport, they can get to a certain level if they just work hard enough and keep their morals and thinks like that. I think it’s pretty cool. It’s pretty special and I’m pretty proud of it,” she says.

Lloyd picked three riders from across the country: Shawn Maffenbeier from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Kaven Benoit from Notre-Dame-du-Bo-Conseil, Quebec, and Tyler Medaglia from Brookfield, Nova Scotia. She’s feeling pretty good about the team and is hoping for a top-10 finish this year.

“In the last four rounds of the series, they’ve beat a lot of the top American guys and they’ve been on the podium each weekend so I feel confident that we have a lot of stronger of a team this year than we’ve had in the past. With them riding at that level already, I’m really confident that they’ll be able to be closer to the top than ever before.

The big competition is in Maggiora, Italy in September.
