A planned power outage at the University Hospital of Northern BC will begin at 11pm tonight. Northern Health says the outage could last until tomorrow evening.
Crews will be working to fix a transformer that caused a brief outage at the hospital last Friday. There will be impacts to non-essential equipment, reduced lighting and limited elevator access during the outage. Hospital staff are working to ensure that any impacts to patients are minimized.
Northern Health is also issuing a reminder about proper use of the emergency room. ER visits should take place for sudden or serious health problems. Ongoing and minor health matters are better addressed by walk-in clinics, family physicians and other community health services.
