School District 57 hires Harwin Elementary principal as new assistant superintendent

School District 57 has hired its new assistant superintendent.

“We went through quite a process as we did with the superintendent,” says School Board chair Tony Cable. “At the end of the day, we hired Nevio Rossi. Rossi is a longtime principal in our district and presently he’s the principal of Harwin Elementary. He has a lot of experience. He’s been acting principal of a secondary school, he’s worked in secondary schools and has been principal of a number of elementary schools. We’re looking forward to working with him.”

Rossi will support Marilyn Marquis-Forster when she starts her time as school district 57’s superintendent. Cable says they were looking for a local candidate with history in the district to assist incoming superintendent Marquis-Forster, who will be arriving from Saskatchewan.

“That’s always a consideration and we brought the superintendent into our district and she was part of the hiring panel. That worked out really well. She had direct input in the new assistant superintendent.”

Rossi’s new contract with the district will begin August 1.
