Over 35 RCMP officers were honoured at the North District Awards Ceremony Thursday.
Stretching from Prince Rupert to 100 Mile House, officers were recognized for bravery and years of service.
Corporal Dave Tyreman moved to Prince George in 2002Â and was given the Bronze Clasp for 25 years on the force. Even after all these years, he says it’s still exciting to get up for work.
“There’s always something to learn every day and learn from everybody: from the general public, from superiors, from our junior members. It’s just that fact that every day we’re possibly learning something new, and the excitement of the job, being there for people to turn to if they need help,” he says.
Among the many officers recognized Thursday, Constable Michael Hansen was also given the Bronze Clasp. He’s spent the last 21 years in the city. Staff Sergeant Patrick McTiernan was given the Gold Clasp for 35 years of service.
