BC’s wildfire season seems to be starting early this year.
The BC Wildfire Service is currently battling a blaze near Quesnel.
As of last night, the blaze is estimated to cover about 1,000 hectares and is located about 5km northwest of Nazko, about 90km west of Quesnel.
The BC Wildfire Service says firefighters and heavy equipment are already on site with more resources on the way.
The cause of the blaze unknown.
The 2015 wildfire season was one of the most expensive and destructive ever. The province spent $280 million dollars fighting fires and more than 280,000 hectares of BC forest burned.
