4th Ave project more than twice over budget

The City of Prince George is going to be spending more than twice it had expected to turn 4th avenue from one way traffic to two.

At Wednesday night’s meeting, it was stated that only one company agreed to the project, with a price tag of over $934,000, while the city had budgeted only $400,000.

Councillor Garth Frizzel says you can take that to mean several things.

Frizzel is looking forward to seeing a change similar to what happened to 3rd avenue that brought about more business.

The city has found the extra money to pay for the project, through a “Green City Award”, provincial funding, and money related to the Wood Innovation and Design Centre and BC Hydro.
