Teegee responds to Canadian Human Rights Tribunal decision

The Tribal Chief of the Carrier Sekani First Nation gave his approval on today’s (Tue) ruling from the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

Terry Teegee says first nations children who lived on-reserve were looked down upon on by Ottawa.

“The federal government and Canada discriminated against children that lived on reserve that received inadequate funding than those that live off-reserve.”

Teegee adds many vital services were not provided adequately.

“In essence we saw a gap in education as well as health and well-fare for our children.”

The Tribunal found social services for first nations children living on reserve received 34 percent less funding than what is provided everywhere else in Canada.
