Operation Red Nose has completed another season of delivering safe rides home over the holidays.
Volunteers gave 209 safe rides on New Year’s Eve for an overall total of 1,059 rides over nine nights during the holidays.
“This year is the third best year we’ve ever had,” says spokesperson Andrea Johnson. “2010 and 2014 were our best with 1,123 rides. So 1,059 rides isn’t too bad! We’re really happy with that.”
Not too bad indeed, considering Operation Red Nose’s 18 year history in Prince George!
“Obviously on New Year’s Eve everyone was really happy, but they’re just grateful to see the volunteers! The new volunteers we got at the last minute were really enthusiastic and couldn’t wait to get out there!”
The anti drinking and driving service delivered its 10,000th ride last year, and teams travelled nearly 30,000 kilometres this winter.
