“It’s fabulous! All the kids love Santa!”
The Paediatrics Ward at UHNBC is buzzing with holiday cheer!
Just before noon today, Santa came early to surprise ten kids with presents to help them keep their chins up.
“When you’re sick, you don’t want to miss out on Santa!” Exclaimed Child Life Specialist Sandra Wyatt. “It leaves them with a good impression and a sense that they’ve come here to get better, but Santa still came to see them. It kind of takes over why they’re here, a little bit.”
First on the list today was Hayden O’Bryan, who received a bag full of Star Wars toys.
He was a little shy at first, but Wyatt says the biggest reactions to the visit are often after the fact.
“Then they open the presents, and relay the story to Dad if he’s not here, and then to the brothers and sisters- who became a little jealous because Santa came to see them and not the brothers and sisters!”
On the flip side, Santa was pleased to report none of the children landed on the naughty list this year.
