Morris recaps good year for Prince George-Mackenzie

With 2015 coming to a close, local MLA Mike Morris recaps a strong year for his riding.

He says one event stands out in his mind.

“The biggest highlight for me and probably everyone in the region is the Canada Winter Games, it highlighted Prince George our volunteers stepped up and provided a great representation of the city.”

Morris adds the province’s diversified economy has also played a major role for the area.

“Our technology sector is thriving, our agriculture sector is doing very well and when you have that taking place at the same time mining and commodities are down it really helps to balance the playing field.”

The BC Government was able to maintain a balanced budget and a AAA credit rating this year.

Morris says the province is in a unique spot when it comes to employment in the trades sector.

“The rest of the country is really suffering especially the Alberta oilfields and we have the opportunity to attract all those skilled workers from across the country which will really help with our apprenticeship programs.”

The Prince George-Mackenzie MLA was also named the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General by Premier Christy Clark.
