Vanderhoof Pool Society moving towards fundraising goal

The Vanderhoof Pool Society is moving towards it’s half million dollar goal. The group has already raised $310,000 for the project.

Pool Society Chair Zoe Dhillon says they’ve gotten some big boosts from generous donors.

“Steven Brothers contracting was just incredible, they gave us $25,000 a year ago and they just gave us another cheque for $20,000. We have the David Martins and Sons that gave us $30,000. And even just the $1,000 from individuals, that’s a huge amount for one person. It just shows the community is really behind this project.”

Dhillon says a Halloween dance last Friday and garage sale in September helped add to the total as well.

“We actually just had $2,500 turned in from jars around town where people just throw their loose change. It shows that all the time, people are just thinking about the pool.”

She says their next big fundraising event will be Christmas at the museum. An event is also being planned for Valentine’s Day.

Residents can also drop off their empty cans and bottles at the BC Liquor Store until the end of the year to add to the fund.
