The BC Green Party has selected a leader for their 2017 campaign.
Today the Greens announced Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Andrew Weaver has been named the new party-leader.
Weaver was elected as the province’s first ever green MLA in 2013, he says he hopes to be joined by more representatives from his party in 2017.
“We are in a unique situation in BC. We have the NDP on the left and we have the Liberals, although frankly there’s nothing liberal about the BC Liberals” said Weaver. “There’s this void in the middle and the BC Green Party is trying to capture that middle ground.”
Weaver was acclaimed as party leader on Monday, for lack of any other candidates.
