The Cariboo Cougars split their weekend series against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds after losing 5-4 today (Sun).
Josh Maser would put Cariboo on the board to make it 1-0.
After a short delay, action resumed with the T-Birds tying things up courtesy of a Kyle Davis point shot that got past Aaron Jakubowski.
Both teams would trade goals early in the second from Kaelan Anderson (Fraser Valley) and Chase Dubois (Cariboo).
Fraser Valley scored two unanswered later in the period when Matthew Dyck and Mackenzie Wight put the visitors up 4-2.
Cougars goaltender Aaron Jakubowski was pulled after giving up 3 goals on 12 shots.
Cariboo made it a 4-3 game before the end of the period thanks to a great effort from Riley Coish.
The T-Birds added to their lead in the third after Justin Plett took advantage of a turnover in the Cougars zone to make the score 5-3.
Josh Maser scored again on the man advantage to narrow the deficit back to one but the Cougars failed to get the equalizer.
T-Birds goalie Jordan Naylor was the star of the game making 45 saves.
Cariboo outshot Fraser Valley 49-20. The Major Midget Cougars are in 2nd place with a 9-5-2 record.
The Cougars will resume their 10 game home stand at Kin 1 against the first place Vancouver NW Giants Saturday night at 7:15 and then again on Sunday morning at 9:15.
