WHL:

Prince George Cougars  4  Wenatchee Wild  3

Lee Shurgot tallied the winner, snapping a 3-3 tie, with 7:42 left in the 3rd in front of 2,590 fans in Wenatchee.

The Cougars erased a 3-1 second period deficit to extend their winning streak to five games.

The (36-19-4-2) Cougars are just three points behind the (36-15-3-6) Victoria Royals in the battle for top spot in the B.C. Division.

Prince George has seven regular season games left while Victoria has eight remaining.

This weekend, the Cougars play in Wenatchee again on Friday.

They also visit the league-leading (42-11-4-3) Everett Silvertips Saturday and the
(29-24-8) Vancouver Giants Sunday (in Langley).

The Royals are home Friday and Saturday against the (41-18-1-1) Spokane Chiefs.

The Prince George Spruce Kings have two key home games against the Langley Rivermen Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

The (18-24-3-1) Spruce Kings are three points behind the (17-20-8-1) Rivermen for the 8th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Interior Conference.

Both teams have eight games left.

The (28-22-11) Canucks continue a 4-game homestand Friday night at 7:00 against the Minnesota Wild.

Vancouver is tied with the (29-23-9) Calgary Flames for the 2nd and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

The Flames play tonight (Thursday) in Dallas.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The first place (26-6-3-1) Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the last place (5-31) Thompson Blazers in the BC Elite Hockey League best-of-3 quarterfinals at Kin 2.

Games will go Friday night at 6:00, Saturday night at 5:45 and Sunday morning at 11 if necessary.

High School Basketball:

The B.C. High School Boys Basketball Provincial Championships continue until Saturday in Langley.

16 teams are entered in each tournament.

PGSS is 0-1 in 4A.

College Heights is 0-1 in 3A.

Nechako Valley is 0-1 in 2A.

Cedars Christian, Northside Christian and Houston Christian are 0-1 in 1A.

 

NBA:

The (20-42) Toronto Raptors, with just 20 games left in their season, start a 4-game homestand Friday (4:30) against the Utah Jazz.

The Raptors are 4 games out of a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.

Curling:

Defending champion Brad Gushue (Canada) is 7-0 in Pool A at the Montana’s Brier in Kelowna.

Mike McEwen (Saskatchewan) is 7-0 while Brad Jacobs (Alberta) is 6-0 in Pool B.

The final is set for Sunday night at 5:00.

The winner will represent Canada at the world men’s curling championship in Moose Jaw from March 29th to April 6th.
