Prince George Cougars  5  Kelowna Rockets  2

Matteo Danis notched a hat trick for the Cougars, who officially clinched a playoff spot for the 4th straight season before 3,187 fans at CN Centre.

Josh Ravensbergen made 23 saves as Kelowna outshot Prince George 25-21.

Next up for the Prince George will be a home and home with the Blazers, Friday in P.G. and Saturday in Kamloops.

The (33-19-4-2) Cougars are second in the B.C. Division, five points behind the (34-15-3-6) Victoria Royals.

The Cougars have 10 regular season games left; 5 home and 5 away: four games against Wenatchee, two each against Kamloops and Victoria and one each against Vancouver and Everett.

The Royals also have 10 regular season games left; 5 home and 5 away; two games each against Vancouver, Portland, Spokane and Prince George, and one each against Kamloops and Kelowna.

The Prince George Spruce Kings begin a 3-game road trip when they visit the (22-14-4-2) Coquitlam Express tonight (Thursday) at 7:00.

The Spruce Kings will also play at the (26-14-3) Surrey Eagles Friday night at 7:00 and the (24-13-7) Salmon Arm Silverbacks Sunday afternoon at 4:00.

The (17-22-3-1) Spruce Kings are four points behind the (17-20-7-1) Langley Rivermen for the 8th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Interior Conference with P.G. holding two games in hand.

Prince George has 11 games left (5 home and 6 away) while Langley has 9 remaining (5 home and 4 away).

Langley will play a doubleheader in P.G. on March 7th and 8th.

NHL: (3 Wednesday games with 3 Canadian teams in action)

Conor Garland scored his second goal of the game at 4:26 of overtime.

The (27-20-11) Canucks visit the (25-25-7) Anaheim Ducks tonight at 7:00 in one of 12 Thursday games in the NHL.

Vancouver is one point ahead of the (28-21-8) Calgary Flames for the 2nd and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The first place Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the last place Thompson Blazers in the first round of the B.C. Elite Hockey League playoffs.

In the league quarterfinals, the (26-6-3-1) U-18 Cougars face the Blazers in a best-of-3 series; Friday, March 7th at 6 PM, Saturday, March 8th at 5:45 PM and if needed Sunday, March 9th at 11:15 AM.
