WHL:

Prince George Cougars  5  Kelowna Rockets  2

The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 2 1/2 minutes into the game and they went on to end a 3-game losing skid before 2,907 fans at CN Centre.

Josh Ravensbergen made 27 saves as Prince George outshot Kelowna 37-29.

The (32-19-4-2) Cougars host the (17-34-4-2) Rockets again tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00.

Prince George is second in the B.C. Division, seven points behind the (34-15-3-6) Victoria Royals with P.G. holding one game in hand.

The Cougars have 11 regular season games left; their remaining schedule has 6 home and 5 away; four games against Wenatchee, two each against Kamloops and Victoria and one each against Kelowna, Vancouver and Everett.

With 10 games to go, the Royals remaining schedule has 5 home and 5 away; two games each against Vancouver, Portland, Spokane and Prince George, and one each against Kamloops and Kelowna.

The Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (22-14-4-2) Coquitlam Express Thursday night at 7:00.

The Spruce Kings road trip will also see them play at the (26-14-3) Surrey Eagles Friday night at 7:00 and the (24-13-7) Salmon Arm Silverbacks Sunday afternoon at 4:00.

The (17-22-3-1) Spruce Kings are four points behind the (17-20-7-1) Langley Rivermen for the 8th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Interior Conference with P.G. holding two games in hand.

Prince George has 11 games left (5 home and 6 away) while Langley has 9 remaining (5 home and 4 away).

Langley will play a doubleheader in P.G. on March 7th and 8th.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The Under-18 Cariboo Cougars will have home ice advantage throughout the B.C. Elite Hockey League playoffs.

The (26-6-3-1) U-18 Cougars finished in first place.

In the league quarterfinals, Cariboo will host the last place Thompson Blazers in a best-of-3 series; Friday, March 7th at 6 PM, Saturday, March 8th at 5:45 PM and if needed Sunday, March 9th at 11:15 AM.

All games are at Kin 2 (as a speedskating event will be held that weekend at Kin 1).
