Police officers in Prince George are reminding drivers that with the warmer weather comes icy and slushy roads and to take it slow today (Friday).
“So far this morning we’ve already responded to more traffic accidents than we did when it was snowing earlier in the week, and that’s just this morning,” stated Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
“This speaks to how much more challenging today’s driving conditions are even though the weather has warmed up.”

- Slow down! Speed limits are set for ideal conditions; don’t expect to do your customary speeds today.
- Increase the following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, so you have more time to stop or make emergency maneuvers if necessary.
- Accelerate and break slowly: when stopping, plan well in advance of your stop and begin to slowly apply breaks gently.
