A collision involving several vehicles along Highway 97 snarled traffic for quite a while in the Peace Region.
According to the Fort St. John RCMP, it happened prior to 8am this morning, when police received a report of a multi-vehicle collision in the area of Shepherd’s Inn with vehicles blocking the Alaska highway.
Members of the detachment attended, along with local fire and ambulance crews.
The investigation revealed a southbound vehicle that was fully stopped, attempting to make a left hand turn, had been rear-ended by a second vehicle. The rear-ended vehicle was pushed over to the shoulder while the vehicle that hit it spun and blocked the highway.
Two other vehicles, one southbound and one northbound, had gone into the ditch on either side of the highway to avoid the collision but also sustained damage.
Three individuals were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The highway was down to single lane alternating traffic until the vehicles were cleared from the scene.
It has since been full reopened.
