Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers will be in Washington, D-C February 12th to meet with American politicians.
The trip comes after President-elect Donald Trump’s threat to impose 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian imports when he assumes office January 20th.
Trump initially said the penalties were because Canada was allowing too many illegal immigrants and drugs into the U-S.
But now he says he’ll use the tariffs as “economic force” to turn Canada into the 51st state.
The current chair of the premiers’ conference, Ontario’s Doug Ford, says it’s time to stop ridiculous ideas about merging, and talk about economic benefits to both countries.
