Cariboo Cougars to battle Shattuck St. Mary’s in Circle K Classic elimination round

The Cariboo Cougars will play another day at the Circle K Classic in Calgary.

Lucas Woodbeck played the role of overtime hero for the U18 Cats in 3-2 victory against the Okotoks Bowmark Oilers on Sunday.

Cariboo finished round-robin play with a 2-1 mark.

Okotoks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead courtesy of Carter Kelly and Tate Hanson.

PG product Jaxon Larmond notched his third of the tournament at the 47-second mark of the middle period while Jack Tidsbury evened the score ten minutes later.

Seattle Thunderbirds prospect and Williams Lake native Jaxon Dikur was named Player of the Game for the Cariboo after making 22 saves in the victory.

The Cougars went 0-for-3 on the power-play while the Oilers were 1-for-5.

Dane Gillis took the loss in net for the Oilers.

Cariboo moves on to the Elimination Round tomorrow (Monday) where they will take on the defending champions from Shattuck St. Mary’s.

The Minnesota-based club went 3-0 in the round-robin outscoring their opponents 27-8.

Shattuck’s dynamic duo of Alex Donovan and Gavin Katz are first and second in tournament scoring with 12 and 10 points respectively.
