With the day of the Federal Election nearing, Advance Polling Stations are set to open for the long weekend.
From Friday to Monday Residents can save themselves the trip on October 19th and decide to vote early.
Unlike the Provincial Election, voters can’t just attend any polling location.
“For the federal election you must go to the poll that is associated with your address” said Dorothy Sitek with Elections Canada. “That’s why it’s really great to check your voter information card when you get it. In many cases the location of your advance poll will be different than your election day poll.”
It’s important to remember your ID when heading out to the polls.
If you have a government issued ID that has your photo, name and current address on it, you need only one piece of that kind of identification and you can vote.” said Sitek. “For over eighty-six percent of Canadians, that’s their drivers license.”
Those who have not yet registered to vote can find their assigned polling station by going online to elections.ca
Advanced Polling Stations are open from Noon until 8pm Everyday over the Thanksgiving Weekend.
