2024 was another strong year for lottery players in Northern BC.
Some of the big winners this year from our region include Marita Grattan of Mackenzie who won a cool 500-grand following a Daily Grand Draw in October while Timothy O’Grady of Charlie Lake took home two million bucks on a BC/49 draw that same month.
BC Lottery Corporation Spokesperson, Shelley Wong told Vista Radio our winners took home a good chunk of cash.
“So, our players up north this year received $54.5 million in prizes redeemed and paid out to players and we had four grand prize tickets redeemed up north from tickets purchased in this region. The grand prizes are worth a value of $500,000 or more.”
“The amount of lottery winners and prize money will be in line with the proportion of sales that we have in Canada too but it is of course to see all of these great stories from our winners when they end up winning the lottery. We are always really excited for that.”
Last year, $59.5 million was collected by lotto players.in our region.
Province-wide, BC gamblers netted 750-million in prizes paid out this year.
