Barkerville’s Olde-Fashioned Christmas is once again being hailed as a success.
Stewart Cawood, the Manager of Public Programming & Media, says they had more than 13-hundred visitors over the two days this year.
“This was the second year back and it went very well. We had a lovely weekend and we’re getting a lot of positive feedback and we had really good numbers coming out.”
Cawood says there were several highlights.
“Definitely having the Correlieu concert band out was a huge highlight. They played for about an hour in the Methodist Church and that was really nice to see. We had people taking sleigh rides, they were booked up solid the entire weekend, and I even got to see Father Christmas.”
Cawood says a lot of locals attended but there were also some out-of-town visitors.
“We definitely did get a lot of local visitors from Quesnel, Williams Lake and Prince George, but there were several people that I personally talked to who came from the Lower Mainland or from Dawson Creek. They were telling me that they flew into Prince George, rented a car and came out here just for this so we had some pretty nice reach.”
Cawood says the event was made possible due to a donation from Osisko Mining Development.
He says they would also like to thank all of the people that came out, adding that those admissions allow them to be able to afford to put on those types of events.
This was the second time that Olde Fashioned Christmas was held since 2019 due to COVID.
