The Duchess Park Condors Girls Basketball team claimed victory in the Tsumura Basketball Invitational Girls Tournament.
The Condors defeated the Notre Dame Jugglers 66-51 yesterday in the Select 16 Finals at the Langley Events Centre yesterday (Saturday) capping off four days of action.
Duchess Park took an 11-point lead into the second quarter, but the Vancouver-based Notre Dame opened the frame with a 7-0 run.
“The never quit. When we struggled, we relied on our strengths, which is play some gritty defence and push the ball up the floor,” said Coach Reid Roberts.
The Condors found their rhythm, and regained their double digit lead.
Mercedes Black led the Charge for Duchess Park with 16 points, while Naiha Manhas was named Player of the Game with 13 points.
Zahra Ngabo scored 12, while Maggie Malfair scored 10.
The Condors earned their trip to the finals with victories over Johntson Heights (72-51), Walnut Grove (88-27), and Vernon (51-50).
