The Prince George Spruce Kings have hired Taylor Harnett as the Associate Coach.
He joins Brad Tesink’s staff, as Tesink will remain as the team’s interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.
Tesink became the interim Head Coach of the Spruce Kings after Alex Evin was relieved of his head coaching duties in November.
Harnett is a product of Edmonton and has spent seven seasons as the Head Coach and GM of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Harnett lead the Wolverines to a winning record in five of those seasons, and made the playoffs three times.
He was also nominated for the MJHL Coach of the Year award in 2022.
“Taylor has a wealth of coaching experience,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.
“Adding him to our staff gives us another resource which assists our players and our team to be better. We’re fortunate and thrilled to add Taylor to our organization.”
Harnett will join the team this week, and will be on the bench this weekend when the Spruce Kings host the Langley Rivermen for a double header.
That includes Saturday’s “Drop the Gloves and Sock it to ’em” Game, benefitting the St. Vincent de Paul Society here in Prince George.
