Police officers were honoured for their work to combat drunk driving on northern roads, Tuesday.
The 38 members of “Alexa’s Team” were recognized for dispensing over 5,000 impaired driving charges in the last five years on in Northern BC.
Staff Sergeant Pat McTiernan with North District Traffic Services spoke at the event and says teens know the consequences of drinking and driving, but they still need to work on getting the message about drug use behind the wheel.
The team was launched province-wide six years ago, aiming to reduce impaired driving after Alexa Middelaer was killed at the age of four.
