Prospects Challenge (in Oshawa, Ontario)

Team CHL won the 2-game Challenge 2-0 as they took the opener 6-1 in London, Ontario.

PG Cougars goalie Josh Ravensbergen played in the first game and made 15 saves. He lost his shutout bid with just 2:14 left in the 3rd. Vancouver Giants sniper Cameron Schmidt, who is from Prince George, scored a goal and added an assist in the opener and did not get a point in the second game.

 

WHL:

The (13-6-3-2) Prince George Cougars visit the (10-10-1-2) Red Deer Rebels Friday (6 PM PT) and the (11-10-1-1) Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday (6 PM).

The Cougars lead the B.C. Division by one point over the (13-8-3-1) Victoria Royals. The Royals won on Wednesday night 3-2 in overtime against the Silvertips in Everett.

Prince George has just two home games left in 2024; December 6th against Regina and December 7th against Kamloops (Teddy Bear Toss Game).

The Kelowna Rockets have selected to host the 2026 Memorial Cup. Kelowna beat out four other WHL teams that bid for the event.

Next year’s 2025 Memorial Cup will take place in Rimouski, Québec from May 22 to June 1.

BCHL:

The (6-12-2-1) Prince George Spruce Kings are on the road. They play Friday in Coquitlam against the (12-8-2-1) Express and continue Saturday in Langley vs. the (10-8-4-1) Rivermen.

This will be the Spruce Kings first action since sacking head coach Alex Evin and replacing him on an interim basis with Associate Coach Brad Tesink.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The (11-3-1-1) Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the (7-5-2-2) Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at 6:30 which will be the “Pink in the Rink” game with the 50/50 starting at $500.  Proceeds will go to the Cancer Clinic.

The two teams also meet Sunday morning at 10:30 at Kin 1.

Cariboo is in first place in the 8-team Division by a point over the (11-3-0-1) Valley West Giants.
