It was another weekend to forget for the Prince George Spruce Kings as they lost a pair of road games in the Lower Mainland.
Friday’s contest saw the Langley Rivermen double up 6-3 on Prince George in front of 716 fans at the George Preston Arena.
Langley went 3/3 on their opportunities with the man advantage, while the Spruce Kings went 1/6.
The Spruce Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first off the sticks of Skogen Schrott and Cooper Williams, but a four-goal second gave the Rivermen the lead.
Three of the four Langley goals in the middle frame came on the powerplay.
Brogan McNeil added one for the Spruce Kings in the third, but the Rivermen sealed the win with two more of their own.
Carter Wishart got hooked just past the halfway point after making 17 saves on 21 shots, with Ryder Green coming in relief.
Green made 11 saves on 12 shots.

Last night’s (Saturday) game against the Chilliwack Chiefs was much closer, but the Spruce Kings ultimately fell 3-2.
Mateo Mrsic proved to be the hero for the Chiefs, scoring the game-winner with just 24 seconds to go in the third to send the 1,967 fans at the Chilliwack Coliseum home happy.
The Spruce Kings held a 2-1 lead going into the third, courtesy of Schrott and McNeil, but Nathan Morin tied it with a shorthanded goal at the 16:33 mark of the final frame.
The Chiefs’ first goal of the game, which came of the stick of Lucas Sorace, was also a shorthanded marker.
Green got the start, made 24 saves for the Spruce Kings in the loss.
