“It’s a start, I am grateful they are still at the table negotiating.”
Those are the words of CUPW Local 812 President Rick Harris as all union members mull over the latest offer from Canada Post.
Some of the highlights include annual wage increases amounting to 11.5% over four years as well as protecting the defined benefit pension for current employees.
Harris told Vista Radio it’s business as usual in Prince George until they are told otherwise.
“I haven’t received any information one way or another. I am in the dark about it as much as anybody else on whether or not we are going out. The fact there was another offer, the fact we are still negotiating is all positive as far as I am concerned.”
“The offer didn’t address some of the major concerns I myself personally might have or the members of the local or union across the country. Although, I don’t want to speak for them.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that over 95 per cent of urban and rural workers voted to back a potential strike mandate as soon as Sunday.
