A new committee to be formed in Vanderhoof

An age friendly committee will be formed by the District of Vanderhoof.

The four person crew would make recommendations to council that would promote healthy and active seniors.

Mayor, Gerry Thiessen says while places like Prince George have easy access to services like transportation, smaller communities have to work extra hard to provide the same thing.

“In smaller communities we have to work very deliberately to make sure our seniors are connected and involved but also have access to transportation.”

“Very few rural communities have taxi services, good transportation and it is a totally separate challenge for us.”

The BC government officially recognized Vanderhoof as an age-friendly community this year.
