St. Vincent De Paul Society PG serving turkey dinners for Thanksgiving Weekend

St. Vincent De Paul Society PG is serving turkey dinners this afternoon for those in need.

They’re preparing to serve just over 200 meals after serving around 180 last year, and will continue to be take-out, similar to years prior.

Bernie Gould is part of the Board of Directors for the society.

“In many ways, it has decreased, because all our meals are take-out due to the lack of volunteers.”

“We used to have it at a hall where people would come in and enjoy it, but since Covid it’s all take-out.”

Gould says they’ve had a tough time getting volunteers since the pandemic, but take solace they haven’t missed serving a meal since then.

She gives credit to CNC’s culinary arts department, as over the last 15 to 16 years, they’ve helped cook the turkeys.

The dinner includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, and dessert.

Turkey dinners will be served from 12:30pm to roughly 2:00pm.
