WHL:

Portland Winterhawks  4  Prince George Cougars  3  (OT)

Diego Buttazzoni scored the winner for the Winterhawks with just under a minute left in overtime.

Koehn Ziemmer, in his first game of the season for Prince George, scored his second goal of the game with the goalie pulled with 43 seconds left in the third period.

Ziemmer finished the game with three points.

The (4-2-2) Cougars host the (5-1) Winterhawks again tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00 at CN Centre.

On Tuesday morning, the Cougars traded 20-year-old forward Carlin Dezainde to the Swift Current Broncos for 19-year-old forward Van Eger plus a pair of draft picks, including a second rounder next year.

BCHL: 

The (3-4) Prince George Spruce Kings play in Alberta against Okotoks on Friday and Brooks on Saturday.

They will follow that with a pair of games in Abbotsford against Alberni Valley on Thanksgiving Monday and against Blackfalds on Tuesday.

The Spruce Kings next game in Prince George will be on Saturday, October 19th at 6 PM against Chilliwack.

(The Padres lead 2-1 with Game 4 tonight (Wednesday 6:08) in San Diego.

New York Mets  7  Philadelphia Phillies  2
(The Mets lead 2-1 with Game 4 this afternoon (Wednesday 2:08) in New York.

The American League best-of-5 Division Series will resume today (Wednesday) with Cleveland at Detroit (12:08 PM) and the New York Yankees at Kansas City (4:08 PM).

Both of those Al series are tied 1-1.

Canada West Soccer:

The (1-9) UNBC Timberwolves host the (10-0) UBC Thunderbirds in Canada West women’s soccer Friday and Saturday at 6 PM at Masich Place Stadium.

The UNBC women will conclude their season at Trinity Western on October 18th at 5 PM and at Fraser Valley on October 20th at 1 PM.

The (1-11-2) UNBC men’s soccer team will play its final two games of the season against the (1-9-2) Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on October 18th and 19th at 7 PM each day.

NFL: 

Week 6 of the NFL season begins Thursday (5:15 PM) with San Francisco at Seattle.

CFL:

The B.C. Lions have just two games left in their regular season.

The (8-8) Lions are 3rd in the West Division, with a guaranteed playoff spot locked up, a point behind the (8-7-1) Saskatchewan Roughriders.

B.C. will play at Saskatchewan on Saturday (4 PM) before hosting the (11-3-1) Montreal Alouettes on Saturday, October 19th (4 PM).

Week 19 in the CFL begins Friday (5:30 PM) with (8-7) Toronto at (10-6) Winnipeg.

The West-leading Blue Bombers have won eight straight.
