With an extra 20-year-old on their roster, the Prince George Cougars announced a trade with the Swift Current Broncos this morning (Tuesday).
The Cougars send over high-scoring forward, Carlin Dezainde (04), and a 2025 ninth-round pick for forward Van Eger, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
GM and Head Coach, Mark Lamb said “Dezainde has turned himself into a real good WHL player that could help any team,”
“It’s not a trade we wanted to make but with (Koehn) Ziemmer coming back, the business part of the game comes into play.”
Each team is only allowed three players 20 years of age, with the other two being forward Borya Valis, and defenseman Viliam Kmec.
19-year-old, Eger has played two games this season, and played 31 last season, tallying three goals and six points.
Dezainde scored 40 goals and 96 points in his 160-game stint with the Cougars, with 10 points in seven games this season.
The Cougars are back home for a three game homestand, starting with the Portland Winterhawks at 7:00 tonight.
